We never seem to have enough time to get to everything. Book talks, for example, get bumped from our agenda almost all the time. Here's your chance to bring them back! Post your comments on your independent reading books and earn 10 points of extra credit. Please include the title, the author, a brief summary (five or six sentences without spoilers), and specific, insightful reasons why you liked and recommend the book. Do have friend troubles? What about boy troubles? Do live in a life with gossip and rich private school girls? Maybe you should try to read the Clique series. This series is about a Clique called the P.C. or the Pretty Committee. In the first book a new girl from Orlando, Florida moves into Massie Block's guest house and life for Claire (the new girl), Alicia (the beta or the second in command), Kristen (the sports chick), Dylan (the daughter of a famous talk show host), Massie Block (the alpha or the first in charge in the Clique), and the rest of Westchester. For all those who are already reading the series the newest book came out on Tuesday, February 5. It is called BRATFEST AT TIFFANY'S. I think it has a great perspective on our lives. Except for the expensive clothing.
If you watched High School Musical 1 and 2 and want to keep up with them, I recommend reading High School Musical- Stories from East High #1 battle of the bands. Read how Sharpay and Troy make there own bands to compete in battle of the bands. You may ask yourself, Where are Ryan and Gabriella? They both have been excluded from both bands. Gabriella is tutoring Ryan in math. Will there be problems between Troy and Gabriella? Read the book to find out. If you enjoyed this book read the rest of the series of High School Musical- Stories from East High. Read what happens next in the lives of Ryan, Sharpay, Troy, and Gabriella.
I liked reading this book because it was kind of amusing watching Troy and Sharpay trying do all they could do to win the battle of the bands. I also like it because it was surprising. I always guessed what was going to happen but it turned out to be different. Things I never expected. I didn't expect it to end the way it did it surprised me.
All the girls who are in a clique, want to become one of them or just likes gossip. I recommend reading Invasion of a Boy Snatchers by Lisi Harrison. Five girls in a clique will find out how boys work. Massie the leader of the clique has to deal with Claire moving into her room until they remodel the guesthouse. All Claire wants is her first kiss with Cam. What Massie doesn't know is that Claire is the least of her worries. When Nina, Alicia's cousin, arrives from Europe there will be something new to talk about. Alicia has to decide between Nina and her friends. What will she decide?Dylan is overly obsessed with her weight especially now, she has gained six pounds over the break. Kristin got a hair cut that makes her look like a boy. Is her reputation ruined? Keep on reading.
I liked reading this book because the Pretty Committee weren't the new hot thing from Europe. They weren't as experienced as Nina was. Everybody usually looks up to the Pretty Committee, asks for there advise, or just want to be them. But this time it was different everybody was turning to Nina. I liked the new change.
Need an update on the Pretty Committee. Well they are back and better than ever. The Pretty Comittee ais headed to Lake Placid where anything can happen. Massie has started he own kissing class (M.U.C.K.). She is teaching the girls how to kiss. Does she even know how to kiss? Claire is single at the moment. Cam dumped her. What will she do to get him back? Alicia has a crush on Josh Hotz. It seems that he likes somebody else. Who could it be? Dylan is excited about the trip since she lost
weight when she had the flu. What will happen when she finds out her mother is going with her to, worse that she is also smooching around with her teacher? ugh GROSS, EMBERRASING. While all these problem are hapenning at Lake Placid, Kristin is back home in Westchester. The question is will it stick? Is Kristin having a better time than her friends?
I liked reading this book because for the first time the book is taking place outside of Westchester. The girls have to survive the outdoors were there are no malls just trees.
School is out! For the Pretty Committee at least. The Pretty Committee has been expeld from O.C.D. Alicia, Massie, and Claire go to L.A. to audition for a new movie, DIAL L FOR LOSER. Dylan is not invited because the director didn't like her. Kristin has been grounded for getting expeld and is not allowed to go to L.A. Dylan and Kristin are left in
Westchester with the Briarwood boys around. Massie's life turns upside down when Claire gets the leading role for the movie. Along with it comes famous hot looking actors. What will happen when Cam finds Claire kissing a "Hollywood hottie". How is that possible? Will she become the new alpha? Alicia and Massie are asked to give backstage sneak peaks for The Daily Grind.
I liked reading this book because its exciting. The girls are no longer in school were they are so popular. They go to California, outside their territory, were nobody even knows them. The huge twist, Claire being the famous one and for a change not Massie.
After the girls have been dumped by the boys, they dont want to know anything about them. Alicia is the only one with a boyfriend now. They have formed a new group, NPC, New Pretty Committee. They must give up boys no longer flirt with them. What will Alicia decide, Josh Hotz or the NPC? What will happen when they get a terrible news? The boys school has colapsed and now they will be sharing schools with them. With the boys around it wont be the same for the NPC. The boys are the alphas now.
I liked reading this book , Bratfest at Tiffany's by Lisi Harrison, because it was like the end of the Pretty Committee. I think the whole point of why Lisi Harrison wrote a clique series was to show the girls that there is a lot to being in a clique. They have to know how it feels to be on the other side, not in the clique. Gotten made fun of, ignored, not being the center of attention, etc. It shows that you have to deal with people that you don't like and don't like you back. You can lose the respect of people and lose your friends for good.
THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN
Many people believe in heaven as a paradise filled with pearly gates and angels. Some people don’t believe in heaven at all. In the book The 5 People You Meet In Heaven, by Mitch Albrom we learn about his version of heaven.
The story takes place around Eddie, a mid-70 year old man who works at the amusement park in his hometown. After an unexpected and sudden accident, Eddie is killed on the spot trying to save a little girl. Soon after, Eddie is transported to heaven. But this heaven is not filled with angels or beaches or pearly gates. This is a place consisting of 5 stages to get to your real heaven, which means 5 people you meet that have changed your life drastically. The people you meet you may not have even known but each of their jobs is to explain your life and the meaning of it. Eddie meets 5 people as well, and looks back on his life with his loved ones and his job. In the story, Eddie looks back on many of his birthdays and how they shaped him to become the man that he is. Through his meetings with his five people, Eddie soon has answers for many of his questions and finally arrives in his real heaven, with his wife marguerite.
A big part about why I really like this book would have to do with the main character Eddie. A good chunk of books I’ve read consist of whiney or over dramatic victims for main characters, and though Eddie has his moments, he comes with no baggage. Eddie is just a lonely old man who misses his wife. He is neither a hero nor a villain, just a man. I think that many people would be interested in this book, because it has a little bit of everything. The Five People You Meet in Heaven has war, romance and a little bit suspense to it.
I recommend this book to any reader who would just like a peaceful book to read, something not too dramatic, just right.

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
Dear Mrs. Morris,
A week ago I read the second installment of the Twilight series. It is called New Moon and is written by Stephenie Meyer. The first book called Twilight left off with the main character, Bella, a human who fell in love with the town’s vampire, being attacked by a tracker and almost dying. In the end, Edward, (her beloved vampire boyfriend) came to her rescue. A tracker, by the way, is a vampire who specifically tracks humans from their scents to hunt them and kill them.
Now, in the second book, Edward and Bella’s relationship takes a dramatic turn when Edward decides that he does not love Bella anymore and leaves town. (Though, he does love her, but he can’t stand to put her in danger through their relationship.) This places Bella in a vegetable-like state for the next few months, her whole life going by as a blur. The book is told in Bella’s point of view so you get to experience first hand how Bella feels and how her whole world changes. Soon, as she starts to get back to her old self, Bella forms a close friendship with Jacob, the son of her father’s best friend.
They begin to bond, and finally when Bella thinks she has a normal life again with no vampires involved, Jacob starts to change. He gets more muscular, looks older, but more importantly, is not himself anymore. He is also turning into a supernatural creature. Then Bella figures out that Edward is in trouble, and it is her turn to rescue him. Unfortunately she soon becomes aware that her new alliance with Jacob may get in the way of that.
I have read all three books in the series and am awaiting the next installment. I honestly think that New Moon is not only a great book but will entertain anyone who bothers reading it. The novel has romance, humor, and has mystery and adventure. Even if you’re depressed and wallowing in self-pity, this is the book for you! It is thick, and many people may not like that, but once you start the book, you have to keep reading and reading because that is how quickly it absorbs you. If anybody is looking for a great read, I suggest reading New Moon, or even any of the other Twilight books. It’s worth its size and will be remembered by anyone who reads it.
